Through the city is a big boulevard with the municipal theatre at the north end and the city hall at the south end. The theatre was built in the 19:th century and is a very beautiful building. The city hall was built in the 18th century in a late Gustavian design.

North of the river Gavleån is the Castle of Gävle, built in the year 1580 by order of the King Johan III. At the moment the county governor lives and work there.

Gävle also has a couple of nice parks such as "Stadsträdgården" and of course "Boulongerskogen". In the city there are four good museums which are worth go visiting. Those four are:The County Museum, in which historical events and discoverys from the Gävlearea. The largest Railroad Museum of Sweden, showing old Railroad-carriages and more.

The Forrest Museum Silvanum, locatade in the park "Boulongerskogen", showing trees, birds and so on The last one is great green open space with a large stock of wild animals, called "Valls Hage." North of Gävle is an old fishing village.

Gävle is nowadays famous for 4 different things. These four things are: The great icehockey team Brynäs Tigers, 11 times swedish champions; Gevalia, swedens leading coffee producer; Leaf (former Läkerol and Pix), producer of candy; and the worlds largest she-goat made of straw.
